SEO is Essential for Website Success!

SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is something you have to do if you have a website or blog and you want to make money from it.

If you do not apply any SEO techniques to your site you are not likely to get people coming to visit your site, and if you don’t get any visitor traffic then you certainly won’t make any sales, and without sales you will not make money online.

So the big deal is that optimizing your website or blog for the search engines, primarily Google, is essential to having a successful online business, whether this is just part of your overall business or your only business.

SEO is International and Local!

Also the same applies if you have a large, medium or small business or a local business (ie just on Maui) or even if you trade nationally throughout the US or even internationally to individuals or businesses in foreign countries.  The need for SEO is the same for everyone with a website or blog, wherever they are or wherever their site is hosted in the world.

And you are no different - if you already have a website or blog, or intend to build one, then if you want to make a go of it then you will need to apply some effective Search Engine Optimization before you will start to see any useful numbers of visitors and before you start to make any sales.

If you are already online with your business and not getting the traffic you want or the sales you had hoped for, then all is not lost. It is relatively easy to get your site optimized for the search engines, so that your position in Google’s search engine results pages increases for many of the keywords related to your business niche.

There are 2 initial and essential steps to doing this:

KEYWORD RESEARCH

Firstly a careful analysis of your target buyers needs to be performed and this does not take long to do. Then a list of target keywords needs to be determined that your potential visitors will use in the search strings that they will enter into Google when looking for sites like yours. This is called keyword research.

ON-SITE OPTIMIZATION

Secondly, your site will need to be optimized for these keywords, so that when Google’s search engine automated robot spiders visit your site they will be able to determine exactly what you site is about very quickly and easily. If Google is accurate at doing this (and we help Google to be accurate) then this will help your site rank better in Google’s listings for your target keywords. This optimization is referred to as on-page and on-site SEO.

The 3rd and by far the most important part of SEO is critical!

WEBSITE PROMOTION (off-site optimization)

If you do not perform this step then despite your carefully laid plans executed in the first two steps you will only get a minimal number of visitors to you site. This traffic will be so small that you will likely not see many conversions into sales. You need to promote your website!

This part of the search engine optimization process involves getting links pointing back to your site from other websites or blogs. Once again this is not difficult, but it does take some effort. Promoting your site in this way is probably the most difficult taks you will face.

In fact to do this really effectively you should put 10 times more effort into this than you did in to building your site and completing steps one and two above! This is called link building and it is essential for website success and making money online.

To be honest if even if you did not do a very good job of the step two on site SEO, you can still do really well getting sales by focussing just on link building, as long as you have chosen the right keywords in step one.

Don’t Build A Website If You Can’t Get Links!

If you don’t link build you will have wasted your time building a website.

Also just before you go off and start getting links from wherever you can, please hang back a little as you need to understand that all links are not equal and that there is quite a lot you need to know and considr about the type of links you need and how and where to get them.
